Product overview
Sand is an acrylic weathering gouache — a 20 ml tube of opaque, water-based colour that dries matt — mixed for sand effects on vehicles and on any kind of scenery. Brush it into dusty accumulations, dry drifts and pale groundwork, then let it down with tap water to vary the strength from a faint film to a heavy deposit. Since it reactivates with water after drying, you can keep reworking those effects well beyond the first pass.
- Opaque and matt, so sand build-up reads as dry dust, not a shiny stain.
- Diluted and blended with tap water alone, with no solvents in the process.
- It works over oils, acrylics and enamels, as well as plastic, paper and cardboard.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
