Product overview

AK11264 is a two-part oxidation kit for developing iron rust on models and dioramas. The effect comes from actual corrosion rather than a painted imitation: reactive particles within the acrylic layer oxidise when the separate catalyst reaches them. This keeps the rust effect tied to a natural chemical reaction. The catalyst is AK11268, the same Oxidizing Agent included with the companion Verdigris Effect Kit.

  • Includes 35 ml of AK11266 Iron Effect acrylic paint.
  • A separate 17 ml bottle of AK11268 Oxidizing Agent completes the set.
  • Suitable for modelling and craft projects.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
