AK Interactive Real Colors WWII USAAF Aircraft Colors contains four lacquer paints for United States Army Air Force camouflage used from 1941 through the later war years. Dark Olive Drab 41 and Neutral Grey 43 form the standard scheme, Medium Green 42 supports upper-surface blotching, and Sand 49 covers selected aircraft operating in the Mediterranean. The set is intended for USAAF fighters, bombers and reconnaissance aircraft.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): RC926 Dark Olive Drab 41, RC927 Medium Green 42, RC928 Neutral Grey 43, RC897 Sand 49 (Desert Sand FS 30279)
  • Lacquer-based Real Colors with a soft matt finish, ready for weathering

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
