Product overview

AK Interactive Real Colors Modern US AFV Colors contains four lacquer paints for US Army and US Marine Corps armoured vehicles from 1984 onwards. NATO Green, NATO Brown and NATO Black form the standard three-colour woodland camouflage, while CARC Tan 686A FS 33446 covers vehicles operating in desert environments from 1990 onwards. The set is intended for modern US tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers and related military equipment.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): RC885 CARC Tan 686A FS 33446, RC886 NATO Green, RC887 NATO Brown, RC888 NATO Black
  • Lacquer-based Real Colors with a soft matt finish, ready for weathering
  • Standard three-colour NATO woodland scheme plus CARC desert tan
  • Formulated for airbrush application; thin with RC701 or RC702 (or another lacquer-based thinner)

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
