AK Interactive MERDC Camouflage Colors is an eight-paint 3GEN acrylic set for US Army vehicles using the Mobility Equipment Research and Development Center system from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. MERDC used terrain- and weather-specific four-colour patterns, with seven multicolour schemes plus an overall Arctic White option. AK gives the theoretical proportions: colours no.1 and no.2 each covered about 45% of the vehicle's surface and colours no.3 and no.4 about 5% each. A profile guide on the rear of the box shows examples of each multicolour pattern.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
