AK Interactive IDF AFV Colors is a three-bottle set of 3rd Generation acrylics covering Israeli Defence Forces vehicle colours from the 1950s to the present day — and the three paints are really three periods. AK dates IDF Early Sand Yellow to the late 1950s and 1960s, in wide use up to the 1973 Yom Kippur War on AMX-13s, Shermans, early M48 Pattons and most Centurions (Sho't). IDF Sand Grey 1970s-1980s followed as more IDF units moved to the northern frontier, where a greyer tone suited the terrain. IDF Modern Grey is the current IDF colour, introduced in May 1981.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
