Product overview
Extreme Rust Wash gives you a reddish rust tone for corrosion effects across different surfaces on fantasy and sci-fi models. Run the wash into crevices, nooks and contours to pick out worn detail without shifting the colour of the whole area. A filter uses a lower paint concentration, so this wash can remain focused wherever the rust needs sharper definition.
- Work it back after placement using a clean brush, or dampen the brush with enamel thinner.
- Combine the colour with another wash and blend until you reach a custom variation.
- Use enamel thinner when you want a more dilute result; AK14214 is the matching product.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
