AK8077 Multipurpose Ceramic Varnish is a transparent acrylic finish for producing a highly reflective, glass-like surface. The full-bodied formula can be brushed directly onto models or scenery and self-levels as it spreads, helping form an even coat. The 60 ml format can also be used to create water effects on foam or to work over porous materials.

  • Dries to a resistant, vitreous finish with a luminous super-gloss appearance.
  • Suitable for modelling subjects including figures, vehicles, aircraft, dioramas and wargaming pieces.
  • Use Real Colors Thinner RC701 or RC702 when thinning the varnish or cleaning tools.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
