Product overview

Blue Moon is a 30 ml acrylic shade for wargaming miniatures, a cool blue tuned to go over light, blue and green base tones. It reaches into the recesses to darken and separate them, giving fast, simple shading across a squad while the surface stays matt. The colour comes from micro-dispersed pigments — each under a micron — carried in pure acrylic resin, and it sits inside a three-step painting order: base colour first, then this shade, then a highlight.

  • Goes over light, blue and green base tones to shade and define the recesses.
  • Part of a Base, Shade, then Light sequence for quick, even miniature shading.
  • Dries matt and water-resistant — once set it will not reactivate.
  • Deepen it with a second light coat; AK13010 medium is compatible for adjusting it.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Do I need a primer?
