Asphalt leaves its own kind of dirt, and this three-piece weathering set from AK Interactive's Cars and Civil Vehicles series is built around exactly that. Aimed at racing and road subjects — F1, Motorcycle World Race machines, or any street vehicles that need a few touches of reality — it pairs an acrylic splatter effect for flicked-on dirt with two pigments for city and asphalt-road grime. The medium of each item is printed on the box and in AK's own listing, and a user's guide is included. The two pigments are stocked by us separately, so replacing the one you reach for most does not mean buying the whole set again.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
