AK Interactive Aircraft & Spacecraft Effects Set (AK9752)

Precision panel liners and aviation weathering in one specialist case.

Why this set

  • A focused aircraft toolkit: five precision panel liners to define structural lines, plus four aviation effects — engine oil, landing gear dust, bearing grease and kerosene stains — and White Spirit to thin and blend.
  • Panel work made easy. The precision panel liners flow into recessed detail and pull out cleanly, so you can accent panel lines and rivets without heavy hand-painting.
  • Long enamel working time — soften, redirect or wipe an effect back long after acrylics would have locked in a hard edge.
  • Two brushes included (round for drawing, flat for blending) so solvent stays off your good sable brushes.
  • Printed step-by-step guide and a fitted storage case to keep it all tidy.

About the set

This is a specialist case built around aircraft and spacecraft finishing. The precision panel liners deepen structural lines and panel detail for a clean, technical look, while the aviation effects add the operational grime a real airframe collects — oil weeping from engines, dust worked into landing gear, grease around shafts and bearings, and fuel staining around filler points and vents.

It takes a model from crisp and clean all the way through to heavily used, depending on how far you push it. Best suited to aircraft modellers, but the panel liners and oil, dust and grease effects also translate well to sci-fi, mecha and Gunpla builds where panel definition and mechanical grime matter.

What's in the case

Five precision panel liners (30 ml):

  • AK12101 Light Grey Panel Liner
  • AK12102 Black Panel Liner
  • AK12103 Sepia Panel Liner
  • AK12104 Dark Brown Panel Liner
  • AK12107 Raw Umber Greenish Panel Liner

Four aviation effects (35 ml):

  • AK2019 Aircraft Engine Oil
  • AK2031 Landing Gear Dust
  • AK2032 Shafts and Bearings Grease
  • AK2039 Kerosene Leaks and Stains

Plus: AK011 White Spirit 35 ml, one round brush, one flat brush, a printed user guide, and a fitted storage case.

How to get the best results

  1. Seal your base coat first. A gloss or satin varnish gives the panel liners a smooth surface to flow along and protects acrylic paint from the enamel and White Spirit.
  2. Run the panel liners into detail. Let the liner flow into recessed panel lines and around raised detail. Pick the tone to suit your scheme — light grey on dark camo, black or dark brown on lighter surfaces.
  3. Tidy the excess. After it flashes off, wipe back the surplus with a flat brush lightly dampened in White Spirit, pulling in the direction of airflow.
  4. Add the working grime. Build engine oil, landing gear dust, grease and kerosene staining in layers around engine bays, undercarriage, filler caps and vents.
  5. Fix mistakes while wet. A cotton bud with a little White Spirit erases anything you're not happy with. Always work in a ventilated space.

Worth knowing

  • These are solvent-based enamels — they need a sealed undercoat and good ventilation. If you specifically want water-cleanup acrylics, this isn't the range for you.
  • This is a specialist aircraft set. If you mostly build armour or want a broad first weathering kit, the general Total Weathering Effects Set (AK9751) is a better starting point.
  • The panel liners are 30 ml and the effects are 35 ml — a normal mix of sizes. If you already own AK precision panel liners, expect some overlap.
