Product overview

Psychic Blue is a vivid blue enamel liquid pigment, made for the strange blue ground you find on other worlds — soils stained by blue calcium and sulfuric-acid accumulations. Brush it on as it comes; as an enamel it is self-fixing, so nothing extra is needed to lock it down once dry.

  • The pigment load is high enough to dry matt every time, with no shine to the colour.
  • A little White Spirit stretches it further or feathers a hard edge, and more colour can go in while the surface is fresh.
  • If a set area needs adjusting, dampen it again with White Spirit and dab it back until it sits right.
  • Sits happily with other effects, and a final pass of dry pigment settles the look.
  • It also earns its keep on vehicle wheels and underbody, across scenery, and in the small dirt that gathers around raised detail.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
