Abteilung 502 Magenta is a semi-opaque artist oil intended as a basic, multipurpose mixing colour. AK Interactive states that it can be applied alone or combined with other colours to create different effects, and specifically positions it for altering grey base colours. The published formulation combines PR122 and PW6 pigments. Like the wider ABT502 oil range, it uses a reduced proportion of oil to support more matt finishes while retaining the extended working and blending characteristics of artist oils.

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
