Product overview

Tamiya Epoxy Putty Quick Type 100 g provides four separate 25 g sets of the same fast-hardening putty sold as item 87051. Each set combines white putty with beige hardener, allowing the packs to be opened as needed for larger sculpting, conversion and repair projects. Tamiya gives an approximate six-hour hardening time at 20–25°C and describes the compound as soft while being mixed and workable with cutting tools after it becomes hard. This is the higher-volume choice without changing the Quick Type’s basic behaviour.

  • The box contains four separate base-resin-and-hardener sets.
  • The two components are white putty and beige hardener.
  • Tamiya frames it for figure sculpting and plastic-model modifications.
  • The box also lists re-modelling, detail fabrication, sculpturing, kit modifications and repairs.
  • The components must be mixed before use; the putty is not a glue or a ready-to-apply tube filler.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
