Product overview

Natural Earth Pigments Set No. 2 11282 is a brown-focused selection of ultra-fine dry powder pigments for adding dust, mud, grime, oil staining and aged earth tones to scale models and terrain. Its palette moves from Burnt Umber and Dark Brown Earth through Middle Earth to Light Brown Earth, distinguishing it from the green, white and black colours in Set No. 3. These are loose pigments rather than ready-mixed paints.

Contains Burnt Umber 1765, Dark Brown Earth 1766, Middle Earth 1767 and Light Brown Earth 1768.
Apply directly as dry weathering powder or mix with Pigment Fixer or Mud Effect for wet application.
Dry applications can be secured with a pigment fixer.
The pigments are non-toxic, but their dust should not be inhaled.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
