AT-CR is DSPIAE's stepped coil roller: a red aluminium alloy rod that steps down through 12 diameters, each 1 mm apart and engraved with its size. Wind wire round the step you need for an even coil, or press a photo-etched part against it for a clean curve, which is hard to get neatly by hand. The fine end comes off, so it is out of the way when you work on the larger steps.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.

What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?

Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.

How do I keep tools in good condition?

Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
