The Aves Neutral Colour Kit packs Black, Silver-Grey, White and Brown Apoxie Sculpt into four small 1/10 lb colour sets, each with its own Part A and Part B. It suits modellers who want a broad tonal palette for repairs, stone, concrete, bark and dark earth without buying four full-size tubs. The colours can be blended with one another before the corresponding Part B is added, allowing custom greys, muted browns and intermediate values. Each portion is best treated as a small-batch quantity for detail work and testing the material rather than repeated bulk sculpting.

  • Blend the selected Part A colours first, then add the corresponding amount of Part B and knead until the result is uniform.
  • Black and White allow Silver-Grey and Brown to be shifted lighter or darker without introducing another hue.
  • Aves instructs users to knead for 2 minutes, let the mixture rest for 5 minutes and smooth it with a wet finger, brush, cotton bud or sculpting tool.
  • Incomplete mixing produces poor results, so any custom colour recipe should be measured and repeated consistently.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
