Product overview

The 4 lb Yellow format is intended for workshop builds involving filled moulds, material shaped over armatures or repeated sections that need several controlled batches. The stated 4 lb is the total kit content: one 2 lb Part A tub and one 2 lb Part B tub are supplied. Having the full workshop quantity available helps maintain the same preparation routine across a longer job. The coloured compound also keeps new contours readable against grey or primed surrounding surfaces while they are being developed.

  • Aves gives the mixed putty a working range of 1–3 hours.
  • Prepare equal amounts of A and B at 50/50 and knead for two minutes to achieve activation.
  • The compound hardens by itself without baking and requires 24 hours before sanding or drilling.
  • Its manufacturer claims a hard, waterproof cure with 0% shrinkage.
  • A custom colour can be made by combining Yellow with another Part A colour before adding an equal quantity of Part B, carrying the resulting shade through the cured work.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
