Product overview
Four 3rd Generation acrylic colours for US Navy and Marine Corps aircraft from early 1943 until the mid-1950s — the tri-colour scheme and the overall Deep Sea Blue that replaced it. AK names the subjects: F4F Wildcat, F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat, F7F Tigercat, SBD Dauntless and TBF Avenger, among others. All four also sit inside the six-bottle master set (AK11729); this is the box for a late-war subject that needs nothing earlier.
- Set contains (4 × 17 ml): AK11868 Insignia White (FS 17875), AK11341 Intermediate Blue (Ocean Gray FS 35164), AK11190 Sea Blue (Dark Sea Blue), AK11864 Deep Sea Blue
- Covers the January 1943 tri-colour scheme (Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue, Insignia White) and the Deep Sea Blue overall finish that followed from mid-March 1944
- Matt finish; acrylic colours for brush, and for airbrush dilute with water or AK11500 thinner
- The box carries AK's printed "Scale Reduction Factor" mark, as on the rest of the 3GEN AIR range

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
