Product overview
This selection of 35 wood-encased AK Weathering Pencils places highly pigmented, semi-grease wax-composite colour under direct hand control for rust, chips, dirt, rain marks and other scale-model weathering effects. The cores are water-soluble and can be used dry or wet. Dry marks remain workable with a brush or cotton swab, while water activation supports streaks, rust deposits and dusty finishes. The formulation is non-toxic and developed specifically for modelling.
- Each pencil is 17 cm long.
- Dry marks can be blended or softened with a brush or cotton swab and may be erased.
- For wet application, the core can be dipped in water before creating streaks and deposits.
- Distilled water is recommended when activating or blending the colour.
- A non-acrylic varnish should be applied before adding acrylic products over the finished effects.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
