Four matt acrylics that are indispensable for painting models of aircraft camouflaged in the US Asia Minor scheme, the finish applied to all Iranian combat aircraft since around 1965 — serving both the Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF). It covered the earlier supplied F-86Fs (some delivered to Ethiopia in 1970) and the F-5A/B, F-4D/E and F-14A, and it was also used on Jordanian F-5A/Bs, some of which were sold to Greece in the 1980s.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
