AK Interactive Vehicle & Tank Accessories contains six water-based 3GEN acrylic colours which AK describes as the basic colours required for painting the accessories and equipment of military vehicles. The selection is named for the jobs it covers: bullet metal cases, periscope shades and exhaust silencers, alongside Buff, Matt Red and Gun Metal for the remaining stowage, tools and metal fittings carried on tanks and other vehicles. Four colours are conventional matt acrylics; Bullet Metal Case (Brass) and Gun Metal are metallics.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
