AK Interactive Real Colors WWII Luftwaffe Early War Colors contains four lacquer paints for aircraft camouflage used from 1937 until approximately mid-1941. The set covers the principal RLM 65, 70 and 71 exterior scheme, while RLM 02 was also used on interior surfaces. RLM 70 remained the standard propeller-blade colour throughout the war. The paints are formulated for airbrush application and can be diluted with AK Real Colors Thinner RC701 or RC702.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): RC932 RLM 02 RLM-Grau (1938), RC935 RLM 65 (1938), RC939 RLM 70, RC940 RLM 71
  • Lacquer-based Real Colors with a soft matt finish, ready for weathering
  • Formulated for airbrush application; thin with RC701 or RC702 (or another lacquer-based thinner)
  • Colours matched to period RLM aircraft standards

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
