AK Interactive Real Colors USMC Helicopter Colors 1970s-today contains four lacquer paints for United States Marine Corps helicopters from 1977 onwards. The selection covers the overall USMC Green finish introduced in 1977, the three-colour Land Camouflage Scheme adopted in 1985 and the later Tactical Paint Scheme using Medium Blue Grey and Light Ghost Grey. It provides a focused palette for post-Vietnam and modern USMC rotary-wing subjects.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): RC804 Flat Black (RAL 9005), RC903 USMC Green FS 34095, RC909 Medium Blue Grey FS 35237, RC920 Light Ghost Grey FS 36375
  • Lacquer-based Real Colors with a soft matt finish, ready for weathering
  • Overall green, Land Camouflage and Tactical Paint Scheme colours
  • Formulated for airbrush application; thin with RC701 or RC702 (or another lacquer-based thinner)

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
