Product overview

Hazel Brown is the range's subtle Deep Shade, a 30 ml acrylic made for light colours where a stronger shade would look harsh. It flows into the low points of a miniature to lift the detail gently, keeping a matt finish and a soft transition rather than a hard line. Once it has dried it stays put and will not lift, so later coats sit cleanly over the top.

  • A gentle brown for subtle shading on pale and light base colours.
  • Sinks into recesses to define detail with soft, gradual transitions.
  • Acrylic and matt, with AK13010 medium on hand to soften the effect further.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
