Product overview
Black is a 20 ml tube of acrylic weathering gouache — opaque pigment held in a water-based binder, drying matt. It’s a workhorse weathering colour for smoke stains around exhausts and gun ports, for darkening greys and shadow tones, and for dropping the value of almost any mix. Move it and thin it with nothing more than tap water; once it has dried, a fresh wet brush reactivates it for more blending.
- Opaque and saturated, so it reads as a solid matt layer even in thin films.
- Tap water is the only thinner needed, and the dried paint reactivates whenever you rework it.
- Use it on enamels, oils and acrylics, and on plastic, cardboard and paper.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
