These Acrylic Washes are a range of eighteen shading washes, each an 18 ml bottle you choose from the dropdown. A wash is the quick way to bring out detail: the dark pigment flows into recesses and crevices as it goes on, dropping realistic shadow into every crease. Worked over any base colour, it gives deep, sharp definition, and with a matt finish and slow drying you have time to work the effect before it sets.

  • Odourless, for comfortable long painting sessions.
  • Made for brush application, which keeps the pigment flow controlled and lets you fix heavy build-up.
  • Spans browns, greys, greens, blues, purples, reds and rust tones, plus a verdigris for copper and bronze — used alone or freely combined for the contrast you want.
  • Apply, let dry, then paint your highlights over the top.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
