AK Interactive QuickGen is a one-coat contrast paint for miniatures — the same speed-painting class as Army Painter Speedpaint and Citadel Contrast. Over a white primer the paint flows off raised detail and pools in the recesses, so a single brushed coat lays down base colour, shadow and mid-tone in one pass. The range is built in families: Generic colours, which carry an intensity rating on the label (Low, Medium or High coverage) to show how strongly a shade reads; six Metallic shades; a Military family of historical uniform tones; and a clear Medium (AK17080) for thinning without breaking the formula. Brush-on by design, airbrush-capable, and cleans up with water.

- Generic-range labels carry a coverage rating — Low, Medium or High — set by pigment concentration; Metallic and Military colours do not carry this rating
- One-coat contrast effect: pigment settles thicker in the recesses and thinner on raised areas, creating shading in a single pass
- Matte finish; water-based, cleans up with water; applied by brush or airbrush
- AK recommends priming in white for the fullest contrast; it can also go over black or grey primer for subtler shading and glaze effects

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
