Product overview

The 10 mm DSPIAE CB-10 covers jobs between confined access and broad surface work: panel-line edges, small flats and sprue-gate clean-up on compact parts. Its carbon fibre backing stays light and rigid behind a self-adhesive strip, making this a practical width to keep loaded for routine use. Abrasive paper is obtained separately and can be renewed without changing the board.

  • An included sticker records the paper grade on the front face for quick identification.
  • Position three edges of the paper flush with the board, then slice off the overhang.
  • The carbon structure withstands stretching and bending while retaining its form.
  • Its angled edge reaches intricate corners where a square-edged tool has limited contact.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a needle file and a sanding stick?

Needle files are steel, cut faster and hold their shape for tight spots and metal. Sanding sticks are foam or paper-backed abrasive, kinder to plastic and better for smoothing broad, flat surfaces without gouging.

Which grit should I start with on mould lines?

For plastic, start around 400 grit to knock the line back, then refine with 600–800. Coarser than 400 leaves scratches you then have to chase out, so only go lower for resin flash or heavy work.

Should I file wet or dry?

Wet sanding with a drop of water reduces dust and clogging and gives a finer finish, which matters on resin where the dust is best not inhaled. Dry filing is fine for quick metal work and steel needle files.

How do I stop a file clogging with plastic or resin?

Brush it out with a stiff brass brush along the cut direction. For sanding sticks, tap them clean often. Clogged abrasive stops cutting and starts burnishing, which just polishes the high spots rather than removing them.
