AK Interactive Weathering Effects Set contains six acrylic gouache colours selected by Adam Wilder for rust, dirt and smoke effects, with Snow White included for winter camouflage work. The box provides six 20 ml tubes. The paints can be diluted with tap water and applied over conventional acrylics, enamels and oils. Once dry, they can be re-wet with water for further blending. AK describes gouache as suitable for matt opaque layers, and the three rust colours’ own pages give them an ultra-matte finish.

Set contains: AKG01 Snow White, AKG02 Black, AKG09 Fresh Rust, AKG10 Old Rust, AKG11 Medium Rust and AKG12 Grime
The gouache can be reactivated with tap water after drying and worked through further blending

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
