Product overview

Greenskin Soil is a green-toned enamel liquid pigment for earthy ground with a mossy, mineral cast — the sort of soil that carries celadonite and glauconite. Apply it by brush, undiluted, straight from the bottle; being enamel-based, it holds itself in place as it dries, so no fixer is required.

  • The high pigment charge dries fully matt, holding the green as a flat, dusty layer.
  • Thin it with White Spirit for a lighter pass, or to blend one shade into the next while the surface is still open.
  • A dried area can be re-wetted with White Spirit and lifted or reshaped if you change your mind.
  • It plays well alongside other weathering products, and dry pigments can go on top to finish.
  • It is equally at home on wheels, underbodies and general scenery.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
