Abteilung 502 Ochre is a multipurpose artist oil for weathering models finished in either dark or light colours. Depending on the base colour and the oils used alongside it, the shade can help develop both shadows and illuminated areas. AK Interactive also recommends combining it with other tones when painting figure flesh, wood and leather accessories. The published formulation uses PY41 pigment, while the reduced-oil ABT502 medium is designed to produce more matt finishes and controlled transitions.
20 ml tube, single artist oil colour (AK code AKABT610; former code ABT610)
AK use: weathering models painted in dark or light colours; shadows and highlights

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
