Abteilung 502 Naples Yellow / Light Sand is an artist oil for recreating dust and sand effects on scale models and diorama scenes. The colour can be applied directly or combined with other oils to develop additional tonal variations. Its published formulation uses PW4 and PY35 pigments, while the reduced-oil ABT502 medium is designed to produce more matt finishes and maintain controlled blending.

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
