AKABT1000 contains the complete 52-colour Abteilung 502 oil paint range, with every shade supplied in a 20 ml tube. Compared with conventional artists’ oils, the modified formula contains less linseed oil and has a denser, stiffer consistency suited to controlled scale-modelling work. The selection spans earth, military, industrial, metallic, flesh and primary colours for weathering, tonal adjustment and painted detail.
- The oils can be used for washes, streaking, grime, filters, blending and fading.
- Approximate drying time is eight hours, rather than the 24–36 hours quoted for conventional oils.
- Compatible thinners include turpentine, white spirit and odourless thinner.
- Weathering applications are intended for use over a sealed acrylic base coat.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
