The Raphael 8413 is a pure Kolinsky sable round brush, handmade in France with a short black lacquered handle and a nickel-plated brass ferrule. It carries the spring, point and colour-holding that make Kolinsky the benchmark hair for watercolour — a full belly to hold pigment and water, tapering to a fine, precise tip.
With a slightly shorter, rounded tip it is built for control: placing detail, retouching and putting the final touches to a watercolour or ink drawing rather than laying broad washes. It holds its shape well and springs back to a point stroke after stroke.

How to care for your brush
Rinse in clean water after each session and clean with brush soap periodically. Reshape the point after washing and dry it flat or tip-up, never standing in water. Kolinsky lasts for years with gentle care — avoid metallic paints and harsh solvents.
