All artists and hobbyists face the same problem every day

The problem lies at the heart of our hobby - in our paints.

Unused paint loses its original properties.  The pigment separates from the medium and falls to the bottom of the bottle.

In general, the longer the paint is not used, the more difficult it is to reverse this process.

Often, a vigorous shaking of the paint will restore it to a usable state.

And yes, it is ok to shake your acrylic paints (unless the directions on the bottle tell you not to).

But mixing several types of paint by hand is time-consuming and tiring.

That is true.

There are various solutions to this. 

- You can periodically change the orientation of the bottles in your storage rack.

- You can periodically shake them by hand (not a good solution for a large colour collection).

- You can use different improvised, noisy and crazy tools like drill or jigsaw to mix the pigments.

- You can also drop them from a great height hoping for a good shake (we do not recommend this solution)
