Vallejo Model Color Metallic Oily Steel is a metallic acrylic paint for scale models, miniatures and dioramas. Its reformulated water-based formula uses ultrafine metallic pigments to provide a realistic metallic finish with improved opacity and fluidity. Self-levelling properties support smooth, even coverage for armour, weaponry and decorative details.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
