Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium Dope Set contains four water-based acrylic metallics for representing aluminium dope finishes on aircraft constructed with wood, metal and fabric coverings. The shades use aluminium pigments to create reflective metal effects without requiring enamel or lacquer metallic paints. They are intended primarily for airbrush application, can also be applied with a brush and may be tinted in the airbrush cup with Model Air or Game Air colours. Each colour is supplied in a 32 ml eyedropper bottle with a hinged cap and stainless-steel mixing ball.

Vallejo recommends Gloss Black Primer beneath aluminium shades on airframes and aircraft components; the primer is not included in the set

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
