Product overview

The first paint set in AK Interactive's "Fortunate Sons" series is built for WWII wargamers fielding US airborne troops. Fourteen 3rd Generation acrylics, selected by Eduardo Fernández, serve the reinforced M42 uniform worn by the 101st and 82nd paratrooper units on D-Day, together with their accessories and weapons, and AK describes the selection as the result of the greatest possible historical rigour. An exclusive miniature, a radio operator member of the 101st, comes in the box.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
