Tamiya Modeller's Punch 74122 cuts circular pieces from masking tape and plastic plate using interchangeable 2 mm and 3 mm punch bits. Both supplied bits are made from chrome molybdenum, while the plastic-plate thickness limit is 0.5 mm. A wide rotating grip lets pressure be applied as the cutting head turns, and the single-touch fitting allows the two diameters to be exchanged without dismantling the punch.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.

What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?

Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.
