Tamiya introduces its highly popular masking tape in a new and handy way to mask off larger areas in the painting process, for example R/C car bodies. The masking tape comes pre-attached to plastic sheeting, and when folded out it has a width of 550mm.

Tamiya masking tape attaches securely to the surface to be covered, protecting it from unwanted paint and giving sharply defined edges. It peels off easily once the object has been painted.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.

What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?

Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.

How do I keep tools in good condition?

Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
