Product overview

Swamp 4 mm Small tufts give wetland vegetation a two-part colour, placing green tips above darker brownish bases. The 4 mm growth suits low rushes and sedges in swamp, marsh and bog settings, and the dark, grass-like herbs found under shadowy canopies. Used alongside further colours and sizes, it can extend the colour transitions across a finished scene. This is the shorter of the two Swamp heights we stock: the 8 mm sheet is sold only as Wild XL, with around 36 much larger tufts.

  • Around 144 tufts come in the Small format, which is as many as we publish for any sheet.
  • The 4 mm Wild version of this colour is the other option, supplied with around 70 tufts.
  • The pieces come away from the sheet one at a time, and need no preparation before they go on a base.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
