The Aves Primary Colour Kit provides Red, Yellow, Green and Blue Apoxie Sculpt in four separate 1/10 lb colour sets, each supplied with Part A and Part B. It is aimed at modellers who want to build custom hues from a compact palette rather than purchase a full tub of every colour. Aves permits the coloured Part A portions to be blended first, before the corresponding amount of Part B is added. Careful, repeatable mixing matters: incomplete kneading produces poor results, and hand-mixed colour recipes will only remain consistent when their proportions are recorded and repeated.

  • Mix the chosen Part A colours together before adding the corresponding quantity of Part B.
  • Record the proportions used when a custom colour may be needed again, as hand-mixed shades depend on consistent measurement.
  • The kit contains no Black or White, so it is intended primarily for creating and adjusting hues rather than controlling value.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
