Product overview

Brown in the 1 lb format provides enough material for regular sculpting, prototype work and repairs without moving to the workshop-size tubs. The complete 454 g kit is split into two jars, with 8 oz (227 g) of Part A and the same quantity of Part B. Using a coloured body can make newly added material easier to follow against a grey or primed model during shaping; it remains suitable for painting after cure. The available working period is 1–3 hours.

  • Take equal portions of the separate components for a 50/50 mix and knead for two minutes to start activation.
  • It is self-hardening, so there is no baking stage in the curing process.
  • Allow the full 24 hours to pass before sanding or drilling the completed work.
  • Aves describes the cured compound as hard and waterproof and specifies 0% shrinkage.
  • Leaving the freshly kneaded batch untouched for five minutes gives better handling.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
