The 1 lb Black kit is the working format for modellers who already know Apoxie Sculpt and need more material for repeated builds, restoration work or larger additions. It is supplied as two 8 oz jars, keeping Parts A and B separate until the required batch is prepared. The putty-like mixture offers 1–3 hours for shaping and tooling. It self-hardens without an oven, and the complete 24-hour cure must be reached before the surface is sanded or drilled.

  • Measure equal amounts of A and B for a 50/50 mix, then knead for two minutes until the colour is uniform throughout.
  • After curing, Aves describes the material as hard and waterproof and claims 0% shrinkage or cracking.
  • Leaving the mixed batch untouched for five minutes gives better handling before work resumes.
  • A Black Part A portion can be combined with another Part A colour before an equal quantity of Part B is introduced.
  • Wear gloves and use different tools when taking material from the two unmixed jars.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
