Large busts, armature-based sculptures and mould-filling work are the practical territory for the 4 lb Green format. It is the biggest size we carry, giving workshop users room to prepare multiple controlled mixes without treating every portion as scarce. The full 1814 g comes as a pair of 2 lb tubs, with Part A in one and Part B in the other. Colour within the working mass helps contours stand apart from neutral or primed surrounding areas before the usual painting stage.

  • Aves specifies a 1–3-hour interval for working the combined putty.
  • Start with matching amounts of Parts A and B at 50/50, kneading them together for two minutes to complete activation.
  • The material sets through self-hardening rather than baking and finishes its full cure at 24 hours.
  • Leave any sanding or drilling until the whole curing period is over.
  • Its published cured properties are hard, waterproof and 0% shrinkage.
  • To widen the available palette, blend Green with a second Part A colour before adding an equal quantity of Part B; the resulting colour becomes integral to the cured mass.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
