Product overview

The 4 lb Stone White kit is the workshop quantity for filling moulds, building over armatures and repeat jobs that call for several controlled batches of the same compound. Parts A and B are supplied in separate 2 lb tubs, so only the amount needed for the current section has to be prepared. The two components arrive in different shades; knead them for the full two minutes until the colour is completely even, which provides the visible sign of activation, and expect a little warmth as the reaction begins.

  • The putty-like mixture offers a 1–3-hour period for shaping and tooling.
  • Measure equal quantities of A and B to prepare the required 50/50 batch.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
