AK Interactive Transparent Colors is the technical box of the 3rd Generation range: six acrylics from AK's Clear series, made transparent while keeping the range's other qualities. The uses are specific — tinting translucent parts such as windows, headlights, aircraft canopies and optics without losing their transparency, shifting the colour of metallic parts, and laying glazes to adjust the tone of something already painted. AK notes they can go over any paint type without reacting or damaging the finish beneath.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
