Product overview

Pigment becomes a fixed, textured layer when mixed with AK665 Texturizer Acrylic Resin. The 100 ml product is intended for terrain and vehicle lower areas, where it dries matt and can later accept enamel or oil filters and washes. Pigments may be combined with plaster, including AK617, to build a firmer paste before application.

  • Mix evenly before spreading the paste across the chosen surface.
  • Ivy or leaves can be added to represent soil caught around running gear.
  • Apply rough deposits to wheels with a brush or toothpick.
  • To create speckling, blow air from an airbrush over a loaded brush until the required coverage is reached.
  • AK079 can add moisture after the textured layer has dried.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
