Product overview

Reddish Filth is an acrylic Deep Shade in a 30 ml bottle, meant for warm-toned miniatures — it's the shade AK points at sands, oranges and purples. Brushed over the basecoat it settles into the recesses, deepening shadow and sharpening the raised detail, and the finish stays matt. Work it as the middle step of a three-part method, between the base colour and the final highlights.

  • Aimed at warm base tones — sands, oranges and purples.
  • A matt-drying, micro-dispersed acrylic pigment that won't reactivate once set.
  • Build extra depth with a second pass, and thin it with AK13010 medium for subtler shading.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
